FB is about to revamp its platform by introducing the video streaming services which can be accessed across the globe. Previously, it had only launched in the US but with the latest update, the people residing in any corner of the world will be able to enjoy various shows.
However, before starting the service globally, the video streaming will be available to the US, Australia, the UK, New Zealand, and Ireland. Also, FB has not imposed any restriction on the new players and will enable the viewers to watch the videos produced by the renowned brands as well as the new ones. Advertisements will be introduced between the shows to fulfill the metrics.
Till now, only the renowned brands were allowed to avail the service. With the latest service facility, the revenue will be split into 55% and 45% to the owner and FB respectively.
FB’s watch can be considered as the rival to the YouTube, owned by Google. Apart from the video streaming clips, it will also put up a tough challenge for the traditional TV and other online streaming services like Amazon video, Netflix, Instagram TV, BBC iPlayer, and others.
Though the service was launched in the US a year back, 50% of the 1,632 FB users who are off age had never heard of the same. On the other hand, 24% heard of the facility but have never accessed the service. Facebook was able to capture only 14% of the US users who had admitted using the same only once a week.
As per the other report, FB had allured millions of people to avail the facility of Watch but failed to retain them. Now, some of the big brands and celebrities are associated with the new service to give it a boost and make the platform highly interesting.
